A Poem for Tuesday

As I was going through our book Poems Children Enjoy, I spotted this one which I think accurately reflects the post-vacation mood here.

The Lost Smiles
Frances Gorman Risser

A flock of smiles was lost one day
And couldn't find a place
To rest, because such ugly frowns
Sat on each passing face!

The smiles dropped down upon a tree.
At once the blossoms gay
Began to open on each branch,
In such a happy way

That sight of so much loveliness
Chased frowns from sullen faces;
Then homeless smiles flew down at once,
And quickly took their places!
